FAQ: MAG|Coupler™ Magazine Couplers (Patent No. 10126076)

MAG|Coupler™ Frequently Asked Questions

Questions

My MAG|Coupler™ seems very tight when I try to install it.

MAG|Couplers use a series of teeth on both sides of the coupler to hold securely to the magazine body. They are designed to be tight and may require some force during installation. This fit helps ensure a solid, stable pair of coupled magazines capable of supporting recoil.

Apply a small amount of liquid dish or hand soap to the coupler teeth to ease installation. Do not use tools, as excessive force may damage the coupler or magazine.

Back to questions

Where can I purchase a MAG|Coupler™?

You can order directly from this website. Many local dealers also carry MAG|Couplers™. Check with your local gun shop to see if they stock our products.

Back to questions

Is the MAG|Coupler™ a universal product that fits all magazines?

No. Each MAG|Coupler™ is designed for specific magazine models and manufacturers. Currently available versions fit Magpul® PMAG® magazines only. Each product listing specifies compatibility. We welcome feedback on which models to support next.

Back to questions

Will the MAG|Coupler™ work with Magpul® magazines larger than 10 rounds?

The MAG|Coupler™ was designed specifically for coupling two 10-round Magpul® PMAG® magazines using a GEN M3™ floorplate for AR-10, AR-15, and AK/AKM MOE models. It can physically attach to higher-capacity magazines using the same baseplate, but added weight and stress may affect long term reliability.

Our warranty covers use with 10-round magazines only.

Back to questions

What size are two 10-round magazines when coupled, and will they fit in a standard 30-round pouch?

Two 10-round magazines joined with a MAG|Coupler™ are approximately the same length as a standard 30-round magazine and will fit in most standard 30-round magazine pouches.

Back to questions

Are any special tools required to install the couplers?

No. The MAG|Coupler™ replaces the factory floorplate on your magazine. A small jeweler’s screwdriver (or similar) can be used to release the original baseplate. The original magazine spring and locking plate are reused with the MAG|Coupler™.

Do not use hammers, clamps, or other tools to force the coupler onto the magazine body.

Back to questions

Once installed, are MAG|Couplers™ permanent?

No. MAG|Couplers™ install and remove similar to standard floorplates and can be swapped back to factory configurations at any time.

Back to questions

Do MAG|Couplers™ increase magazine capacity or change firearm function?

No. The design does not alter the capacity, mechanics, or operation of your magazines or firearm. Each magazine retains its original round count and function. The coupler simply connects two magazines back to back for handling and storage convenience.

Back to questions

Does the MAG|Coupler™ affect my firearm’s rate of fire or reload speed?

No. The MAG|Coupler™ does not modify firearm operation or firing cadence. It connects two discrete magazines and does not change how ammunition is fed or cycled. Reloads must still be performed manually by the user.

Back to questions

Do MAG|Couplers™ fall under magazine capacity restriction laws?

The MAG|Coupler™ is not a magazine or ammunition feeding device. It is a floorplate replacement that connects two existing magazines without changing their individual capacities.

However, laws vary by state and locality. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws regarding magazine capacity and accessories.

Back to questions

Is the MAG|Coupler™ legal in California or other restricted states?

The MAG|Coupler™ is a non-firearm accessory that does not increase capacity or modify function. It is intended for lawful sporting, storage, and organizational purposes only.

Laws change frequently, and some jurisdictions have additional restrictions. Always confirm current rules in your jurisdiction before purchase or use.

Back to questions

What materials are used in the MAG|Coupler™?

Each MAG|Coupler™ is precision molded in the USA from high strength, impact resistant polymer engineered to withstand environmental exposure and recoil stress.

Back to questions

What if my MAG|Coupler™ becomes loose over time?

Couplers are designed to remain snug after repeated use. If a unit feels loose, remove it, inspect the magazine and coupler for debris or damage, and reinstall.

Do not use adhesives or tools to “tighten” the coupler. If you believe your product may be defective, contact us for support.
